CareCubed Procedure

In March 2024, this chapter was reviewed. As part of this review, the telephone number for iESE was removed as it is no longer valid.

Financial Assessment

This chapter has been replaced with an updated version in March 2024 following a full review. This new version reflects feedback received following a full tri.x legal review of the Care Act 2014 Resource section 'Charging and Assessing Financial Resources'.

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Procedure

In March 2024, relevant text amends have been made throughout to reflect the feedback received following a full tri.x legal review. In addition to this, information about use of the ADASS Priority Tool for Deprivation of Liberty Requests was added to Section 5, 'Receiving a Standard Authorisation Request'. 

Prisons and Approved Premises

In March 2024, this chapter was fully reviewed and refreshed.

No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)

In March 2024, a link to the government guidance 'Asylum support' was added to Section 7, 'Providing Information and Advice'. The guidance 'Supporting Migrants Lacking Mental Capacity in Relation to Immigration Matters' was added to Section 1, Using this Procedure and Further Guidance. In addition, The Home Office Status, Verification, Enquiries and Checking service email was updated in Section 6.

Continuity of Care Arrangements

In March 2024, text amends have been made to Section 1, 'An Introduction to Continuity of Care Arrangements'. These amends have been made to reflect feedback received following a full tri.x legal review of the Care Act 2014 Resource chapter 'Continuity of Care when a Person Moves'.

Service Interruptions and Provider Failure

In March 2024, minor text amends have been made to Section 3, 'Failure of a Regulated Provider'. These amends have been made to reflect feedback received following a full tri.x legal review of the Care Act 2014 Resource chapter 'Commissioning Responsibilities under the Care Act'.

Receiving a Contact or Referral

In March 2024, a new section was added 'Identifying Carers'. In addition, minor grammar changes required in Section 3.

Requesting a Financial Assessment

In March 2023, text amends were made to reflect changes made to the chapter 'Financial Assessment'.

Social Circumstances Report

In March 2024, this chapter was fully reviewed and refreshed.

Understanding the Mental Health Act 1983

In March 2024, Section 4 was updated to include information about Section 135 (2).

Acting as an Appropriate Adult

In March 2024, this new chapter was added to the Specialist Procedures Section.

Monitoring Actions (Reablement)

In March 2024, Section 8, 'Reporting Concerns about a Service Provider' was revised to better reflect the remit of the reablement team.

The Transition Plan

In March 2024, the government toolkit 'Making Finance Decisions for Young People: Parent and Carer Toolkit' was added to the list of tools to support the Transition Plan conversation.

September 2023

No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)

In September 2023, this chapter has been refreshed throughout and amended to reflect changes to the immigration status requirements for people from EEA countries.

In September 2023, this chapter has been fully reviewed and refreshed.

End of Life Procedures and Practice Guidance

In September 2023, Section 10, Advance Care Planning has been refreshed to include information about the Universal Principles of Advance Care Planning.

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Procedure

In September 2023, Section 4, Understanding the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards was updated to provide greater clarity on state imputability and Section 15, Challenging an Authorisation using Section 21A and Section 16, The Future of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards were added. At the same time, the chapter Liberty Protection Safeguards Procedure was deleted.

Understanding the Mental Health Act 1983

In September 2023, this new chapter was added to the Specialist Procedures.

Section 117 Aftercare

Community Mental Health Framework

In September 2023, this new chapter was added to the Specialist Procedures. At the same time, the Care Programme Approach chapter was deleted. This is because the CPA has been superseded by the Community Mental Health Framework.

Ordinary Residence Procedure

In September 2023, Section 5, Meeting the Urgent Needs of a Person who is not Ordinarily Resident was reviewed and refreshed.

In September 2023, a new section was added ‘Final Demand Guide’. Updated in May 2023, the Final Demand Guide provides basic advice for health and social care workers, describing how they can practically help people with debt and mental health problems.

Section 2, A Brief Introduction to Social Circumstances Reports was updated in March 2023 to clarify who can complete a Social Circumstances Report. Section 6, Writing the Report was also updated to include links to the HM Courts & Tribunals Service forms.

Preparing to Establish Needs (Reablement)

This procedure was updated in September 2022. The following sections were localised: 1.2, How to arrange the assessment, 2.2, Consent and capacity, 2.6, Refused access to a person requiring an assessment and 6.3, How to decide the method of assessment.

Deputyship and Financial Affairs

This procedure was updated in September 2022. Information about notifying interested parties was added to Section 6, Making a Deputyship Application. This information explains the Court’s requirement for 3 respondents.

The Skilled Conversation (Reablement)

This procedure was updated in September 2022. The following sections were localised: 4.5, Talking about Wellbeing, 4.6, Wellbeing and capacity, 5.8, Exploring and managing different views about need, and 9.1, Safeguarding.

NHS Continuing Healthcare Procedure

In September 2022, all references to 'Clinical Commissioning Groups/CCG's' were changed to 'Integrated Care Boards/ICB's'. This is in line with changes introduced in the Health and Care Act 2022 which came into force on 1st July 2022. A whole site search and replace of this terminology was also carried out.

Recording and Keeping Records

In September 2022, this NEW tri.x procedure was added to the Universal Procedures section. A reference and link were also added to all occurrences of the following text: "All recording should be in line with local recording requirements".

Prisons and Approved Premises

This procedure was updated in September 2022. Section 3, Ordinary Residence was refreshed to provide added clarity around ordinary residence during detention, and the responsibility for meeting needs.
